Haute Couture in Egypt

Egyptian Designers are popping into the World of Fashion Theatre with a huge BANG - in my opinion.
One of the most popular egyptian fashion designers is Hany Al Behairy - he was the designer who designed my wedding dress by the way :)

Check out his designs and tell me your opinion:

Alexander McQueen Wows!

The sudden death of Alexander McQueen was devastating for his fans and the fashion industry, but in my opinion his business survived his passing.

I was first introduced to Alexander McQueen designs in 2009 and it was clear to me that even besides it respects femininity and glamour in their own way.

Accessories designed by McQueen are probably the most famous and most wanted ones among fashion circles. Example: Skull embellishments make their shoes, clutches, and jewelry even more interesting, intense and unusual. No doubt in my mind that his silhouettes have added a sense of fantasy, glamour and edge to fashion:

Their clutches are world famous; they represent luxury, glamour and good taste in fashion. The McQueen skull clutch bag is another sought-after accessory that has sparked many a counterfeit. I dream of having one soon:

And don’t get me started on the Alexander McQueen scarf bearing the skull print. It is also a celebrity must-have and was copied around the world:

However, one thing is for sure: with his death this designer left a huge mark on the fashion industry. But I completely admire and love Sarah who successfully continues the tradition of the brand by making pieces of fashion as art worth admiring.

Shoe Obsession

I LOVE Shoes; from Flats, heels, boots, ballets, sandals, clogs, platforms, wedges, to buckled, lace-ups, peep-toes, I love shoes.

I feel my heart race when I look at shoes I am considering buying, feel a jolt of joy when I wear them the first time.

I am far from the only woman who feels this way. Most of us do. On average, a woman owns 20 pairs of shoes at any given time. Many own more.

I had a long obsession with any Louboutin Shoes until I recently bought these pair :)

I mean... SO cute, right?! I love them!

But then .... Enter Sophia Webster. I first saw them for display only in Selfridges. I immediately fell in love with all her designs. You can call me obsessed with her fun and quirky over the top girly designs!

Here are some of my favorites:

Egyptian Fashion for All Ages

Fashion trends vary week by week, but styles live forever. Nowadays nearly every influence in styles and trends are almost never original but brought back from past eras.  Egyptian Fashion is one of many influences that inspired and still inspires fashion today. The Ancient Egyptian civilization is one of the first well documented fashion movements in fashion history. This has led to it influencing today’s fashion inevitably.
When you look back at the Egyptian era and then compare it with today’s fashion it is surprising how many clear similarities exist. The following examples demonstrate this point:

  • Black Kohl and Smoky Eyes:

  • Summery Decorated Sandals:

  • Statement Jewelry:

When we take a good look we can see that the influence of Egyptian style is all around us from make up to  clothing and accessories. Some elements have changed and evolved over time, but many are still worn in a virtually identical way to ancient times.

Egyptian style will undoubtedly continue to influence modern fashion for many years to come.
